About the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana calculator
Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a government savings scheme for a girl child. You deposit for 15 years, and the account matures 21 years after it is opened. Deposits qualify under Section 80C (old tax regime), and the interest and maturity amount are tax-free.
This calculator assumes the same deposit at the start of each year and a constant interest rate.
How to use it
- Move the sliders, or type a value into each box.
- Watch the results and chart update as you go.
- Try different assumptions to see what changes the outcome most, then talk to us about a plan.
The formula
Years 1–15: balance = (balance + deposit) × (1 + r); years 16–21: balance × (1 + r)
- r: annual SSY interest rate, compounded yearly
Example
Depositing ₹1,00,000 a year for 15 years (₹15,00,000 in total) at 8.2% could give about ₹47,88,079 at maturity.
Based on the scheme rules for deposits (15 years), maturity (21 years) and the 8.2% rate set for recent quarters. The government revises the rate every quarter.
