About the RD calculator
A recurring deposit (RD) lets you save a fixed amount every month and earn fixed-deposit interest on it. It is a simple way to build a habit of saving for a short-term goal.
This calculator assumes quarterly compounding, as most Indian banks use.
How to use it
- Move the sliders, or type a value into each box.
- Watch the results and chart update as you go.
- Try different assumptions to see what changes the outcome most, then talk to us about a plan.
The formula
M = Σ R × (1 + r ÷ 4)k ÷ 3
- R: monthly deposit
- r: annual interest rate
- k: months each instalment stays invested, summed over every instalment
Example
Depositing ₹5,000 a month for 5 years at 7%, you invest ₹3,00,000 and the RD would mature at about ₹3,59,664.
